Our employee Lisa Bergman tells us that her role as decorator means creating pleasant rooms with color and shape. Together with the customer, you come up with an idea that fulfills a function in your home or workplace. "It can be everything from the color of the walls to furniture and textiles for the customer's purposes. For me, it is important that the aesthetics go together with the function.”
The interior design projects
For a public environment, it is important to know what the premises require. Tells Lisa.
Questions such as whether the materials need to be fire rated, what light penetration is desired, the acoustics, what quality the fabric needs to have and how easy it is to clean the products are some things that are important to start from. "Even good lighting is a prerequisite for having a room as pleasant as possible." Adds Lisa.
"When we work with private customers, it is of course important that the room is personal. To find a style, feeling that makes the customer comfortable and feel at home.”
Lisa finds the most enjoyable part of the job to be the creative ones, the opportunity to work with color and shape to create rooms with different expressions and purposes. "Each project is unique and it's fun to come up with materials and products that fit in." A piece of furniture can be designed in a variety of ways with the help of color, choice of fabric, how the frame is treated, etc. It is often possible to choose between fabric or leather. If it is wooden furniture, it can be painted, stained or oiled. The possibilities are many and my job is to help the customer get the furniture/product that fits best.” Says Lisa with a smile.
Lisa's decorating tips:
The first tip we can take with us is to find personal style and dare to use color."It can be weak colors but that you dare to break the white. This applies to both exterior and interior. Personally, I like when furniture and materials age beautifully.” Says Lisa.
Lisa also highlights investing in durable products that do not need to be replaced within a couple of years. "It can be a bigger investment, but one that pays off in the long run. A piece of furniture can also be given new life when it is restored. Dress up or paint. Mix new and old.”
Today, we get tons of inspiration through social media, which can make it difficult to be consistent. There is a lot that is nice, but knowledge is required to put the whole together. Tells Lisa.
"My best tip is to think about what the goal of the interior design is and strive to get there. Of course, it can be changed afterwards, but having a "master plan" is an advantage. "
