F  YRN

April April 2022.
The tradition of the Easter lighthouses is an approximately 200-year-old tradition.

During this period, society has developed, as have the traditions surrounding the lighthouses. In recent years, there has been a contentious discussion about the environment
and its impact. 1.5 years ago, we received the assignment to work with a long-term solution around the lighthouses in Öckerö municipality, a project we named FYRN. During the next 2 years, 4 monuments that will
gestalta the lighthouses are erected in the places where the lighthouses stood as a memory for future generations for the next 200 years. The monument is made up of a 7.5 meter high steel structure that stands on a solid granite plinth.
Each monument will be provided with a torch at the top which will be lit at 21.00 every Easter.

In order not to remove the excitement and competition around them all, the "tip" has a calculator. So you let us know which lighthouse you come from when you hand in your fir tree for chipping. Most firs for chipping will then receive a "special" torch to place at the top of the monument. This torch is 68% larger than the other monuments' torches and will be like a walking trophy where the year and "beacon-belonging" are engraved.
